Established a filter two months prior to the production of this layout to get over the initial set-up period smoothly.
An advantage of a large aquarium is that it is not necessary to perform frequent maintenance once the aquarium environment becomes stable. Especially in the case of an aquarium that is maintained at a client’s office, it becomes very important to stabilize the aquarium environment quickly since the amount of time that can be devoted for maintenance is limited except for the initial setup time. For this reason, a filtration system with Bio Rio was started using two ES-2400EX Super Jet Filters in an algae free aquarium two months prior to the production of this layout. NA Carbon was added just before setting up the new aquarium to quickly remove excess nutrients in the initial setup period. Although the aquarium was affected by some algae that seemed to have come in with aquatic plants, the tank started up smoothly.
This summer was unusually hot in Niigata with many blistering hot days. Although an air conditioner had been installed above the aquarium to reduce the heat from the light fixture, it broke down unfortunately during the summer. Furthermore, it was an in-wall aquarium and the air conditioner for the room that housed the aquarium could not reduce the water temperature. Luckily the aquarium did not suffer much except for some densely growing Cryptocoryne that melted. It was an unexpected problem for our maintenance staff.
