Creating a Natural Waterscape within the Aquarium

After you step into the gallery through the entrance, the first thing that captures your eyes is the aquascape which looks exactly like a truly natural waterscape.
Having a depth of 120cm which is double of the depth of standard 180cm tank, this aquarium emphasizes the perspective of the layout and thus gives us the impression that we are actually underwater, looking at the natural waterscape.

Aquascape with Enhanced Perspective with Driftwood Composition and Cosmetic Sand (August, 2003)

The size of this aquarium tank is W180×D120×H60 (cm) and its depth is higher than the standard 180cm tank. Utilizing its physically larger depth dimension, expression of the layout with more emphasized perspective is made possible. In this layout, the area covered with cosmetic sand is made larger and the driftwoods are arranged from the back center towards the front side. Light green and red stem plants in the background become the point color of the layout.

A: The stand made exclusively for the aquarium is installed in the most prominent place in the gallery.
B: A split substrate is being laid. You can see cosmetic sands occupying a large area.
C: Aqua Gravel is added around the driftwoods to create a natural ambience.
D: Various types of stem plants are planted in the background to add variety to the layout.
E: Aquatic plants are delicately planted even in this large aquarium tank.

The bright colors of the stem plants in the background and the dark green color of the moss and ferns in the middle ground create a beautiful contrast. They match the body colors of Rasbora Hetermorpha. Shooting date: August 5, 2003

Aquascape with Rich Natural Feel, Spreading from Underwater to Above Water (October, 2007)

The water volume becomes double if the depth is doubled. Therefore, an overflow filter with high filtration capacity is used for this aquarium with two filter boxes at its back at the right and left. However, certain restrictions are necessary in the composition in order to hide these boxes. For the aquascape currently exhibited in the Nature Aquarium Gallery, a multiple number of driftwood pieces large enough to emerge above the water surface are boldly arranged to form a u-shaped composition with an obvious empty space in the center, reflecting waterscape in a natural underwater environment.

The tips of driftwoods and Bolbitis leaves spread even above the water and enhancing the natural feel. A natural-looking aquascape can be enjoyed if you look into the aquarium. Shooting date: October 15, 2007
